At 1813 metres on the Strategica trail in Vâlcea, this wild spot sits in high country where the night sky darkens to near-pristine conditions - you will see the Milky Way clearly. The ground is rough and steep; only high-clearance or 4x4 vehicles can reach it, and the terrain is spacious enough to spread out. A firepit is ready to use, and fallen wood lies scattered around. The forest closes in nearby, and if you listen you may hear the grey wagtail or the curve-tailed plump bush-cricket. Leave no trace when you go - the alpine phyllite and ancient metamorphic bedrock beneath you hold their own quiet story. There is no mobile signal here, and no toilet, but that is the trade of the high country. The Izvorul Gotia stream runs in the area, feeding into the Vidra Lake system downstream.
